Description

Yearning for gorgeous sea views? In this stylish, spacious base, which puts families only a very short walk from Beadnell Bay’s golden-coloured beach, they abound.

It helps that Seaside House’s design ensures that its coastal scenery is always prominent. So you’ll find the open-plan living areas upstairs – light, bright and airy open-plan spaces where black-framed windows frame seascapes that should frequently give your heart a lift.

Blue and white shades emphasise the marine location, too, illuminated by chic pendant lights. After dark, three sofas positively demand relaxation in league with a Smart TV and Sky package. There’s also a large dining table, plus three stools at the casual breakfast bar and another bar which might become someone’s workspace, tucked away from the sociable kitchen island. The Farrow and Ball 'Railings' bespoke kitchen proffers every necessary appliance.

Bifold doors lead out to the rear garden and its raised deck where a barbecue, rattan sofa and dining table encourage outdoor living. So does the front balcony, whose romantic bistro set accompanies yet more stunning sea views.

Downstairs, on the entry level, all four bedrooms are en suite; three contain king or super-king-sized beds while the last is a twin room. In each case, their bathrooms feature large, walk-in showers. Accessible from the hallway too, one is also a Jack and Jill bathroom whose big, freestanding modern tub can be used by all guests for a soak.

Patio doors connect from two of the double rooms onto that back sun terrace, and the neat, enclosed lawn – around which energetic kids can tear about – beyond.

Beadnell’s restaurants and grocery shop are within easy walking distance, as are two great pubs. Beside its lovely beer garden, The Craster Arms occupies a medieval defensive Pele tower, while recently-refurbished Beadnell Towers is ever popular among guests for its great food. Situated at one end of Beadnell Bay’s two-mile horseshoe of sand, the village is known as a centre for watersports such as surfing, sailing and scuba diving.

Other quirky Beadnell charms include beautiful 18th-century lime kilns and the east coast’s only west-facing harbour. Just up-coast is Seahouses, from where guided small-boat trips chug off to the Farne Islands in search of dolphins, seals and seabirds galore. Coast Path walks across dunes to Low Newton’s atmospheric Ship Inn or ruined Dunstanburgh Castle are other options for days out, as is Alnwick Castle – of Harry Potter film fame.

ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATION

Duneside House (sleeps 8) can be let in conjunction with Seaside House (sleeps 8). A gate in the adjoining gardens allows for easy access between the two properties.

Location

Set at the end of the sweeping crescent-shaped beach of Beadnell Bay, Beadnell is a quaint, picturesque village nestled in a scenic spot on the Northumberland Coast – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

With miles of unspoiled golden sands stretching as far as the eye can see, Beadnell is popular with holidaymakers and locals alike and is the ideal spot for scenic dog walks, adventurous days spent surfing, and leisurely beach picnics. Sheltered by the curve of its horseshoe shaped bay, it’s joined by the only west-facing harbour on Northumberland’s coast, making it ideally placed for spectacular sunsets.

The village itself is home to several welcoming pubs and restaurants serving local fare, while the sights and eateries at Low-Newton-by-the-Sea, Seahouses, Bamburgh, Craster, and Alnwick all lie within easy reach. Whether in search of fresh air or delicious seafood, the Northumberland Coastal Path and National Cycle Route 1 also run right through this area, with never-ending beaches to be discovered all the way along the route.
