Description

Located on the Chipchase Estate, just north of Hexham, and offering fabulous rural walks on the doorstep, this four-bedroom house offers a space to relax, unwind, and soak in the views over the rolling countryside.

This spacious home is centred around a light-filled and open-plan living, dining and kitchen space, where the vaulted ceiling and rustic roof beams add to the sense of drama. Large windows and rooflights bathe this space in natural light, and whether you’re enjoying a morning coffee at the breakfast bar, sharing a meal around the dining table, or relaxing on the sofa after a day spent sightseeing, the scenic views are a constant backdrop to life here.

The Shaker-style kitchen has been designed for serious chefs and casual cooking alike, with a large kitchen island creating a central spot to prep meals or perch on a bar stool with a glass of wine. Timber flooring creates a warm backdrop alongside the neutral colour palette, enhancing the airy feel. Sliding doors open from the dining area, creating an indoor-outdoor flow on warmer days, and a further set of doors opens from the seating area onto a large patio – perfect for those summer evenings when you would rather dine outside and enjoy the vista.

The wood-burning stove sits within a double-sided fireplace - a beautiful feature in this open plan space and within the neighbouring sitting room, where relaxed seating creates a cosy snug for nights when you want to curl up with a movie.

The four ensuite bedrooms feature neutral hues and natural textures, creating calm and serene spaces to rest and recharge, while the en suites combine timber panelling with marble-style finishes for a timeless and elegant aesthetic.

This dog-friendly house is perfectly positioned to enjoy the great outdoors. There are a number of public access routes to explore, including one that leads to the River North Tyne below Riverhill Cottage, so you can wander for hours without needing to drive anywhere, and there is also the option of fishing here.

And there is so much to explore within the wider area of Hadrian’s Wall country, from Roman sites and historic villages to miles of walking routes. Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens is a short drive east, with its fascinating Quarry Garden, medieval castle and impressive Georgian mansion house, while Walltown Country Park lies to the west and is a wildlife haven with relaxing woodland and meadow walks.

For days when you’d prefer to dine out, the Michelin-starred Restaurant Hjem is a destination to visit and is just a short drive away in the village of Wall. The Corbridge Larder in Corbridge is a favourite haunt for food lovers in the region and from further afield, while Bouchon Bistrot in Hexham offers excellent French country cuisine.

Location

Set in the picturesque Tyne Valley, Hexham is a charming market town with cobbled streets and historic architecture. Home to an array of quirky coffee shops, award-winning restaurants, and excellent independent shops, as well as a racecourse and golf course, it makes for the perfect base from which to explore Hadrian's Wall country.

Enjoy local produce at Hexham Farmers’ Market, held twice a month, or perhaps visit one of the area's fine Michelin-starred restaurants or cosy gastropubs. Walkers and cylists are sure to enjoy exploring the varied landscapes bordering Hadrian's Wall, while history enthusiasts must visit the fascinating Roman sites of Chesters and Vindolanda.

Beyond Hexham, the village of Corbridge offers independent shops, pubs, and cafés, along with a popular delicatessen and farm shop. The nearby village of Bellingham, known as the gateway to Kielder Water & Forest Park, is on hand for those in search of outdoor adventures, while Matfen Hall's excellent spa and leisure facilities are also nearby if you'd like a little rest and relaxation.

FISHING

Salmon fishing on the River Tyne can be booked separately if available, at additional cost. The beat can fish up to 4 rods when there is a good height of water, but at low water, the options may be more restricted. Because of opposite bank agreements, the Beat is subdivided into Top and Bottom, and fished on alternate days. Please contact us for further information.
