Located in one of York’s handiest addresses for holidaymakers, Number 107 is in an ideal location for your visit. Stay here, opposite the ancient Roman walls, and you can plan stress-free sightseeing like the Vikings once plotted their plunders! Bursting with museums, history and food, the city centre or riverside are barely five minutes away on foot with the infamous Shambles and York Minster a further 15-minute stroll.
Number 107 is situated just off thriving Bishopthorpe Road, which was once named as Britain's best high street. It’s a cute, vibrant spot where you’ll find restaurants, gelaterias, quality cafes and handy greengrocers. The owners reckon that The Pig & Pastry serve Earth’s premier breakfasts.
Part of a conversion of the former Britannia Inn, Number 107 is especially great for older teens thanks to the provision of both a basement cinema and games room. The latter features a full-size foosball table, while the former — in the original, low-ceilinged pub cellar — sees bean bags face a 75-inch Smart TV with Netflix, Britbox and Disney+.
Upstairs, you’ll find freshly baked cakes awaiting your arrival in the open-plan kitchen-dining space. That kitchen is equipped with everything you’ll need; not just mod-cons like a large fridge-freezer, but dishwasher liquid and considerate store-cupboard staples. A log-burner stands ready in the living area for winter evenings, and there’s high-speed broadband throughout.
The master bedroom includes an original fireplace with its king-size bed. There’s a bigger, superking-sized bed — which can also be set up as two singles for children— in the hideaway attic bedroom, then an additional single room plus the possibility to request a Z bed (for a small additional fee) should another person be staying. All three bright bedrooms boast black-out blinds, ample storage and USB charging ports.
And all three share a bathroom whose deep, Japanese-style tub compliments a walk-in power shower. Underfloor heating adds an extra dose of luxury here.
Outside, the courtyard’s table and chairs, flanked by old red-brick walls, allow for a soothing glass of wine after energetic days spent exploring.
That exploration is likely to focus on York, but wider adventures are also a cinch. It’s just ten minutes’ walk to York station, from which trains serve pretty Harrogate and foodie Malton, or you can usually drive to sandy beaches, the Moors or Dales within an hour.
While Number 107 works very well for teens, tots or toddlers are just as welcome — baby baths, cots and highchairs are all available on request. This is one of three neighbouring, three-bedroom properties (along with Number 109 and Spencer on the Lane) which may be booked together by larger groups should availability allow.

There are three individual townhouses sitting under the same ownership - Number 107 - sleeping 6, Number 109 - sleeping 6, and Spencer on the Lane - sleeping 6. For guests looking to holiday together, all three can be booked as House of York Two to sleep 18 guests in total or as House of York One, which combines Number 107 and Number 109 to sleep 12 guests.
