Longstone Lookout

Located in the heart of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Longstone Lookout is a wonderful coastal escape for families or groups of friends with up to three dogs in tow. A short stroll down a bridleway next to the house is all that’s required to reach Northumberland’s award-winning golden sandy beaches.

Longstone Lookout is dog and family friendly, with a secure gated courtyard, enclosed walled garden and easy coastal paths accessible from the house. The stylish and sociable interiors are perfect for families and friends, including a large open-plan kitchen-diner with log-burner, vaulted ceiling and Italian range cooker. Next door, a cosy separate living room leads into the conservatory which is an excellent spot to play a boardgame or to enjoy your morning coffee in peace, savouring the sunlight as you look out across the lawn.

The four beautifully appointed bedrooms include a Master Suite with a super king size bed, en suite bathroom, walk-in wardrobe and Juliet balcony offering stunning views of the sea, sky and the iconic Longstone Lighthouse. Two further bedrooms have king-sized beds (one with an en suite bathroom) and the fourth offers twin beds ideal for children or friends.

Step outside to soak up the coastal and rural scenery from the private, enclosed garden – complete with patio seating for eight, a charcoal barbecue, and even the peaceful nook of a curved arbour where you can escape for a quiet read. The secluded courtyard boasts a firepit and seating that's perfect for toasting marshmallows as the sun sets in the evening.

With so many excellent spaces to socialise both inside the house and in its gardens, you may struggle to tear yourselves away from Longstone Lookout. Nonetheless, there are many excellent options nearby should you like a dog walk along the coastline or a day trip to visit a nearby castle. Reaching the sea is a breeze, as you can walk down the bridleway next to the house along the border of the field straight to the beach.

Seahouses is less than two miles away and is the gateway for boat trips to the Farne Islands National Nature Reserve, where colonies of puffins and seals populate the collection of rocky islands and are even occasionally visited by pods of orcas. The village of Bamburgh is under three miles away, home to a spectacular castle, vast sandy beach and a variety of pubs and cafés, such as the dog-friendly Bamburgh Walled Garden Café, while the historic market town of Alnwick is also just a half-hour drive south, where you’ll find yet another beautiful castle and sprawling gardens.
