House of York Two is made up of three individual Victorian townhouses, Number 107, Number 109 and Spencer on the Lane. Staying in this wonderful city is like stepping back into medieval times, with its winding cobbled streets, magnificent cathedral, classic shop fronts and the dramatic bar walls which surround the city. Bursting with museums, history and food, the city centre or riverside are barely five minutes away on foot with the infamous Shambles and York Minster a further 15-minute stroll.
Each property offers open plan living dining and kitchen areas, ideal for convivial gatherings and family meals. The welcoming lounge areas both provide a Smart television with Netflix and Disney+, packed bookcases and a wide selection of games to keep all ages occupied during your stay.
Families will also love the separate basement games room in Number 107, with a cinema area sporting a 75-inch Smart television and foosball table available – perfect for keeping both young and old entertained after a day wandering the cobbled streets of medieval York. Another welcome surprise is in Number 109 where the dining table can be transformed into a full-size pool table, presenting another fun activity for the larger group.
The houses all offer three bedrooms and one bathroom on the first and second floors, offering flexibility for family gatherings as well as groups of friends with the options of twin rooms and singles. While teens will love all the activities on offer, tots and toddlers are just as welcome with baby baths, cots and highchairs all available on request. There are also two additional z-beds available at a charge of £20 per stay.
Outside, all three houses have secure courtyard spaces flanked by old red-brick walls and furnished with tables and chairs allowing for a soothing glass of wine after an energetic day spent exploring.
House of York Two is situated just off thriving Bishopthorpe Road, which was once named as Britain's best high street. It is a cute, vibrant spot where you will find restaurants, gelaterias, quality cafes and handy greengrocers.
That exploration is likely to focus on York, but wider adventures are also a cinch. It is just ten minutes’ walk to York station from which trains serve pretty Harrogate and foodie Malton, or you can usually drive to sandy beaches, the Moors or Dales within an hour.
